Day 6: Grinnell to Corallville

Day 6 was the longest day of the 2011 route, and it was hot to boot. But, it was College Spirit day! Lori and Neil wore matching UNI jersey’s to show their team pride. Sarah was driving the SAG vehicle, but wore her ISU hat into Hawkeye territory anyhow. It earned her an interview with the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

We took a group picture using the automatic option on Sarah’s camera. We’re going to have to perfect that for 2012, but it worked okay.

This was Sarah’s first time driving SAG, and she too had a great time! Roger, the gig is really up. The team camped in the group campsite, right next to the Corallville REC Center and city pool. After the tent (we were down to one for four people) was set-up, Sarah spent part of her morning pool-side! And she also learned all about “nazi” sag drivers. They take their job seriously!

Since it was College Spirit Day, all of the great Iowa college’s were on hand, giving away freebies and visiting with riders. Even the mascots and cheerleaders were around! Neil claims he’s not a Hawkeye fan, but we’re not so sure…

Bright and early on Day 6, the team is ready to ride onto Coralville!

Cyclone fans in Hawkeye territory? Now that’s risky business!

Earlier he had on a UNI jersey. Hmmmm…
